Concrete Construction Design
Concrete construction design is the base on which most of the world's modern construction is based. Concrete is cheap, relatively sturdy and uses a product that can be easily manipulated, making concrete construction design an area where opportunities are plentiful.
Concrete construction design literally forms the foundation of virtually every building or industrial facility built in America today, as foundations poured for a building are poured concrete. Concrete construction design lays out the concrete used for pillars to provide support for multi-floor buildings, walls and even ceilings.
Traditionally, concrete construction design is done by architects working for a design firm or general contractors who rely on surveyors to establish control points for concrete layout and construction engineers to oversee the use of concrete for other parts of the project. This could lead to potential problems, as the risk of human error or lack of cooperation from the environment could lead to trouble with accuracy. This could lead to construction mistakes and time and money wasted.
Modern technology, including computer programs and hand-held data collectors are making concrete construction design more efficient. Using modern software or Web-based programs, the construction company can develop three dimensional computer aided design (CAD) files that show the project in its entirety before the first steps of construction are even taken. These computer files cover every aspect of the construction process, from layout points to pillar construction, flooring and roofing. These files can then be plugged in to a data collector, allowing the contractor to view the land where the new building will go while looking at a three-dimensional rendering at the same time. The data collector can even direct the contractor to specific points, like the corners of the building or where concrete pillars will be located.
These modern technologies have made concrete construction deisgn much more efficient than it was a few decades ago, when contractors were forced to rely on blueprints and, in some cases, estimations to start the building process. This resulted in a number of industrial concrete construction projects running over the scheduled time and greatly exceeding budget. With the implementation of these new methods, industrial concrete construction is more efficient and cheaper than ever before.
