Construction Project Work
Construction project work can cover a wide variety of jobs, depending on the abilities of the person in question. While supervisors oversee all construction project work, there are specific areas that need to be covered by individuals who specialize in that craft.
Construction project work is overseen at the very top by the project manager, who is responsible for every aspect of the project. Supervisors in the field monitor the daily construction project work operations. Some of the construction project work does not take place in the field, but in the office, where estimators and procurement specialists obtain the materials and equipment needed for the building process to actually take place.
Certain elements of construction project work can be done by general laborers. The movement of equipment from one area to another requires minimal skill, as does digging and earthmoving. Most construction project work, however, requires some kind of experience. Experienced professionals are needed for surveying; the installation of plumbing and waterlines; the installation and construction of the superstructure of a building, whether it is wood, concrete or steel, also requires trained professionals, as well as experienced individuals using the heavy equipment needed to hoist these items into place.
Other kinds of professionals are needed for parts of construction project work that only they are capable of doing correctly. Welders, especially in large-scale building projects, are needed in order weld elements of the building together. Masons may be needed in order to oversee the assembly of any walls made of brick and stone, and carpenters can be required for any number of parts of construction project work. Electricians will certainly be needed, regardless of the type of building project. The electricians will make sure the wiring for many items, from electrical wires to fiberoptic cable for telephones, cable television and the Internet, is properly installed. This part of construction project work is among the most complicated and dangerous, as any mistakes could lead to electrical failure, fires, or the injury and possible death of the individual working on the electrical wiring.
