Cascade Refining

Cascade refining refers to the production of starch-rich wheat flour in an environmental friendly manner. The process involves complementary efforts from the seed milling industry, the paper millers as well as the wheat flour modifiers. Considering the degree of damage that increased industrial activity has propagated in the last few decades, the rampant use of wood as a source of paper may prove so costly if we were to look at the impact of deforestation on our environment.

How does it work?

As forest reserves run out rapidly fast, the need to get alternative sustainable sources to sustain our paper demand is quite crucial. Cascade refining may just be the break through we desperately need. In this method, the cascade refining process involves fractionating wheat before milling it and modifying it chemically using the dry processing methods. The dry process is more environmentally friendly since it discards the massive water consumption as well as pollutants which may be emanating from the wheat floor production. Although this method is not yet fully in place, there have been several successful trials. Out of the progress achieved so far, there are positive indications that the process will most likely be a better alternative to the present methods used.

Possible advantages.

The main advantage o this method as opposed to other conventional methods is the massive reduction of pollutants as is common in the conventional method used since the cascade method uses dry process which greatly reduces the pollutants which would have been emitted if the wet process were to be used.

Away from the cascade refining of the wheat and potato based products, there is cascade refining of jewels and precious ornaments. This is a process where the jeweler buys your ornaments and breaks it down by separating the different metals that may have been implanted in the ornament and re melting it to produce new stuff. Among the most sort after metals are gold, silver and diamond. The buyer breaks out your ornament and weighs your gold or silver in ounces and an agreed price is paid for the stones. Depending on whatever type of cascade refining you are into, the advantages may vary

Disadvantages of cascade refining

The main disadvantage that may be associated with cascade refining is in the procedure. It turns out that the procedure involved. In most cascade refining situations, the rigorous and complex process may be too involving as well as technology intensive. This calls for excessive experienced staff that may not be necessarily available whenever needed
