Hunt Refining

The petroleum refining industry is organized into many sectors such as: exploration of raw materials, production of crude oil and natural gas, transport, refining, marketing and distribution. The process it's rather complicated and takes effort and precision. Thus the crude oil id divided into liquefied petroleum, naphtha, kerosene, diesel oil and waste.

All the refineries use special processes for cooling the systems such as huge volumes of water, taking precautions not to pollute the environment by releasing the waste water. It's also imperative not to loose any wastes from the storage tanks or transfer networks. This could be made by using methods such as vapour recovery systems or double seals, in order to protect any leaking.

One of the refineries that focus on the petroleum exploration is the Hunt Refinery Company which is located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in the Southern part of the United States. It was founded in 1946 by the oilman who discovered asphalt crude oil near Gilbertown. It was the birth of the present Hunt Refinery Company. The oilman named H.L. Hunt managed to build a small refinery which used to produce only 3,500 barrel daily. As the years passed on, the small refinery developed into today's large company, having a capacity of over 52 000 barrel per day.

The Hunt Refinery Company is providing high quality petroleum to areas like Sandersville Mississippi, which has a pipe network. It also has terminals which are located in, Lumberton, Vicksburg, Melvin, Moundville, Alabama, Mississippi and Newark New Jersey. The Hunt Refinery Company deals with products as: gasoline, distillate fuels, oils for home heating, diesel fuels and also paving asphalts, becoming one of the world's leaders.

Regarding the safety issues, when talking about the asphalt at Hunt Refinery, the operators always keep the asphalt temperatures above the 212? F, which is stored in about 10 tankers, in order to avoid any cooling. When any new hot asphalt is being introduced into the tank, the hot material is melting along with the existing asphalt. For better performances, it has been assembled a wireless temperature transmitter. This has helped also by reducing the costs. The higher the technology is, the higher is the resulting productivity. These wireless devices are acting as a router, transferring the information to one another, in order for the process to run efficiently.

There is no doubt that the oil industry has its beginning thousands of years ago, and mankind has always looked for more. Nowadays, this is one of the most important industries, as lots of things depend on it. The costs are also very important for human welfare. For example, if the oil prices increase, the price of various products gets higher and so on. Thus the dependence of this industry is huge.
