Western Refining

Headquartered in El Paso, Texas in the United States of America, Western Refining mainly operates in the Mid-Atlantic and the Southwestern regions of the USA. It owns four major refineries in the USA. They are located in the Western Texas, the NW New Mexico and the east coast Virginia. Its refineries are situated in Texas, Bloomfield, New Mexico, Yorktown and El Paso. All combined, Western Refining refines 235,00 barrels of crude oil per day.

Western Refining has more than 700 experienced employees. Its productions include diesel, commercial jet fuel, propane, asphalt and other petroleum products. When producing petroleum products, Western Refining's main concerns are the safety of its employees and the preservation of clean environment.

Its El Paso refinery is situated on 555-acre land. Though there were two refineries at the beginning, they were combined in 1993 as one unit. The Standard Oil of California built the North refinery in 1928 and later updated it in 1957. In 1972, three more plants were added that include catalytic reformer, sulfur plants and naphtha hydrotreater. Texas Company built the South refinery in 1931. It was modernized in 1954. It was re-modernized about three times between years 1986 and 1991.

The El Paso Plant of Western Refining has capacity for crude oil 125,000 barrels per day while its FCCU capacity comes as 29,500 barrels per day. Its capacity of alkylation is about 10,000 barrels per day while it reforms about 18,000 barrels per day. The El Paso loading track of the marketing terminal has a huge capacity of about 36,000 barrels per day and the refinery has storing capacity of 4.3 m barrels.

New Mexico refinery of Western Refining is on 880-acre land. Bloomfield refinery is situated on 285-acre land in New Mexico. These two refineries refine about 40,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The primary feedstock of these refineries is taken from the crude oil that is regionally produced called Four Corners Sweet. The refinery in the Bloomfield has a polymerization plant that converts LPG to gasoline. Gallup plant has an alkylation plant for the same purpose as well.

The Yorktown refinery of Western Refining is situated on 570-acre land in the York County, Virginia. The crude oil capacity of this refinery is about 70,000 barrels per day. Primarily, crude oil for this refinery is taken from Canada, the North Sea, the Far East, and North America. It produces gasoline, propane, heavy fuel oils, petroleum coke, diesel and butane.
