Alternative Energy Project

No one is aware that the wind energy has extreme potential and can even power the whole world. However, the fact lies that not many of us have given the idea of powering our very own homes with the help of wind energy much thought. We would have heard of wind energy being used in sailboats and in windmills. For many decades, people have relied on wind energy but it is also to be noted that wind energy not only gives us a clean source of energy but also provides employment to a whole lot of people. The wind energy is renewable and it does not produce any by products. Carbon- dioxide is not emitted, as water is not used as a source. It is phenomenal that one can actually use the wind energy to power one’s home.

Just like the windmills, we see in the rural areas, we can have our very own windmill. This can be installed in our backyard. One might think that it would take a long time and would be a highly complex and complicated process but it is actually not so. It is quite simple and thought one might require the help of a trained engineer for the installation, it is not necessary that it has be checked throughout the year.

One must also make sure if their house in a suitable spot to have a wind turbine installed in the backyard. There should be an average wind speed of 10 miles per hour in the area where our house is situated. The presence of trees or tall buildings can be a problem as it might reduce the speed of the wind or increase the turbulence that will lead to ineffective output from the wind turbine as the power available is cut down. We must also ensure that our house is built on at least a one-acre land. If not the wind, turbines cannot be installed.

The fan produces cool air or wind with the usage of electricity and the wind turbine produces electricity with the usage of wind. The wind produces kinetic energy and the wind turbines capture this energy, converting it into electricity. However, the electricity initially produced in the form of direct current and requires a transformer to convert the DC power into AC power. Only after this conversion, the electricity can be used for homes.
