Alternative Energy Stocks
It is necessary to have alternative energy primarily to reduce the reliance on fossil fuel for global needs. Hence, coal, natural gas and oil are not in demand. Therefore, the renewable energy market is facing a huge Boon in recent times. Many companies are now providing renewable energy to consumers and these companies are growing at a rapid rate at present. The advantages of using renewable energy are many: firstly, renewable sources like air, water, sunlight are found abundantly in nature, they are cheap to obtain and generation of energy from these sources causes no greenhouse emissions, hence keeping the environment clean and protected.
President Obama has announced the usage of renewable energy to derive 10% of America’s electricity needs by the end of 2012 and has also planned to reduce the greenhouse emissions by 80% by the year 2050; this will be of big advantage to companies that deal with climate change solutions. It will also be good for mutual funds that are socially responsible, which invest in businesses that are good to the environment.
Alterative energy companies like solar power cells or wind farms are smaller are the low lying companies when it comes to the green sector, nevertheless they are good players when it comes to investment potential. Renounced holdings are Domini European PacAsia Social Equity Fund, which is Hafslund (HNA.BE), and based in Norway, which manufactures hydropower and solar energy equipment and another company called Vestas wind systems (VWS.CO) which is based in Denmark manufactures Wind power generation equipment.
