Alternative Energy Supplies

The rapid degradation of the environmental conditions and the current global climatic scenario has called for an immediate and crucial change in the sources from where energy is being extracted. All these years the most frequently utilized source of energy throughout the world was thermal energy. We obtain this energy from the usage of fossil fuels.

There has been a drastic change towards the using of alternative sources of energy in the recent past mainly due to global warming. Global warming is refers to the phenomena wherein the overall temperature of the world is increasing, thus causing the icebergs and glaciers to melt. The trap of extra heat in the atmosphere is due to the high content of CO2 in the atmosphere that has formed a layer right below the ozone layer, and which is blocking the extra rays of the sun, that gets reflected back, to leave the earth’s environment.

Thus, now, we have resolved to make use of renewable sources of energy, or alternative sources of energy. These sources are preferred for a number of reasons, such as;

* The production of energy and electricity in an environment friendly manner

* Fast depletion of fossil fuels

* In exhaustible source of generating power

* Natural source

* No or less chances of fluctuation

* Only a one-time investment is needed.

These alternative sources of energy are solar energy that is the energy of the sun. It is limitless and knows no boundaries. Solar energy can be tapped with the help of specially engineered cells that not only tap, but also sore the energy of the sun for future use. Solar water heaters and solar pressure cookers are some of the examples.  Wind energy, that is the energy harnessed from the kinetic energy of the air particles. This energy is produced, when the blades of the windmill are turned due to the pressure of the wind, which in turn rotates the generator, which is connected inside the tower, and thus producing electricity. The next alternative source is hydro electricity. This method involves the generation of power with the help of the current of the waters that flow. In this method, water is made to fall on the blades of a turbine, which starts spinning and produces electricity in the same manner as a windmill.

Alternative energy is the future energy.
