Alternative Energy Windmills

One of the best sources of alternative energy is wind, which is harvested from windmill, also the landmark of Netherlands. The power of the wind will drive the blades on the windmill to create energy in a form of electricity or power to help pumping water from underground. In fact, similar to all types of renewable energy, the wind energy is unlimited, which is best for the unlimited demand for energy from us. As long as there is wind, there is no afraid for the energy running out.

Anyways, windmills were first invented in Medieval Europe to help drawing water from the underground to grind wheat or to mill with the help from the wind power, and that is where the word “mill” came from in windmills. In fact, it was used to help manage the flood problem in early Europe. As time passed on, the windmills has been forgotten becoming preserved structures in many cultures until when there are more recognition on the benefits from wind power. Therefore, with the improvement of technology, windmills have once again come out from history and evolved into helping us harvesting wind energy and converting them into electricity. It works by having shaft with one side connects to the blades of the windmills and another side connects to a generator. The generator will then convert the harvested energy into electricity and hence storing them into a battery. In fact, each of the electricity generating windmills is estimated to produce up to six Mega Watts of electricity, which is similar to a conventional power plant. Other than generating electricity, windmills can also be used to generate heat with the same idea as generating electricity.

Indeed windmill has the capability to produce a much greener alternative energy with zero emission from the wind, and hence being environmental friendly. Matter of fact, ever since our recognition of wind power, windmill has been a playing major role to replace the fossil fuels burning power plants. Nonetheless, in order to be more energy efficient and to be more financial efficient, many of the homeowners are turning to windmill to help them producing energy for their house. To effectively collect the wind energy, many of the windmills are positioned near where there is the blend of cold and hot air that will generate winds or near body of water that will also generate wind with the change of temperature between the body of water and the sun.
