American Clean Energy

American clean energy or renewable energy accounts for approximately 10.4 percent of the electricity produced domestically. In this regard, hydroelectricity is the largest producer of the clean energy. The wind energy is utilized to generate 35,159 MW of energy, which is sufficient to provide energy to 9.7 million households in US.

There are several solar power stations as well as thermal power stations, which are generating 354 MW, which makes it the largest solar energy producer. As far as renewable fuel for the transportation is concerned, there are a number of cars in US, which are running on a blend of 10% ethanol fuel. Furthermore, the manufacturers are concentrating on technology, which can support even higher blends of ethanol.

The renewable energy technology is based on broad and diversified selection of technologies ranging from solar photovoltaic, solar thermal power plants to the wind farms, hydroelectricity and geothermal power plants. Nowadays these technologies are tapping the ocean’s energy as well as using biomass to generate power.

In the year of 2009 when President Barack Obama was elected he proudly mentioned in his inauguration speech about expanding the usage of renewable energy to attack the challenges of energy security as well as climate change. His “NEW ENERGY FOR AMERICA” plan focuses on investment worth $150 billion during the next decade so as to start the effort towards cleaner future.

With the exception of four states, other states have made special incentives, which not only promote renewable energy, but at the same time, give has provided with the energy laws protecting these resources and technology.

Hydroelectricity

It is the country’s largest producer as far as renewable energy is concerned. It has the capacity to produce approximately 66.8% of the total consumption. Major plants include Hoover Dam, which is a milestone in the technology.

Wind Power

It is the growing sector of the American economy. USA has led the way when it comes to installing wind power stations in the whole world and it is estimated that its production will double in the coming years.

This is an energy bill that establishes a cap-and –trade plan for the much talked greenhouse gases and climate change. This bill was approved by the House of Representatives on July 6, 2009. It is also called Waxman-Markel Bill. This bill sets a limit on the total amount of the greenhouse gases, which can be emitted.
