Clean Energy Funds

Countries across the globe are becoming more aware of the growing concerns of global warming and harmful effects of carbon emissions. The time has come to arrest this issue, which is next to terrorism. To create a culture of ecological awareness and create green and clean energy, the answer is clean energy funds.

To understand this one must know what are the benefits or characteristics of clean energy. It is energy that is produced by investing in alternate and renewable resources and which has less harmful effects on the atmosphere in terms of greenhouse gases and other harmful gas emissions.

Canada is one such country with a growing conscience towards clean energy. Its government is committed to reducing Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent in comparison to the 2005 levels in the next ten years. It is also encouraging the widespread generation of electricity by the use of hydropower, wind power, nuclear and coal.

To support this cause and green revolution, the Canadian government has set up the Clean Energy Fund, which provides $850 million to projects that use renewable energy, those that demonstrate clean energy systems and those that subscribe to carbon capture storage. An additional fund of $150 million has been invested towards research and development projects exploring clean energy.

The R&D Fund will be utilized on projects encompassing clean and renewable energy, like solar, hydropower, wind and marine; the integration of these renewable energies that produce electricity into Canada’s electricity board and system. Exploration of new technologies to address environmental issues affecting fuel and hydrogen cells and oil sands; and finally projects that bring down the costs of capturing carbon dioxide and discovering methods of carbon dioxide storage.

Canada’s Clean Energy Fund will aid Canada work with the United States in creating for North America a cleaner energy economy.

Canada is not the only example of a country taking the issue of global warming and arrest of carbon emissions seriously. Worldwide governments are ensuring that the country spends is widely utilized on green projects specially giving a boost to solar energy and wind power projects. National policies to curb carbon emissions were witnessed at the United Nations Summit in Copenhagen by countries like Korea, India and China submitting pledges. Every government has set aside a fund supporting their own country’s green revolution.

Clean energy funds are a bounty and investment for a better and safer tomorrow.
