Commercial Energy Efficiency

The largest usage of energy is after all the commercial sector such as from small retail stores to corporate office building and from schools to hospitals. The sector requires a lot of energy to help them run their business, and with the increasing growth of the commercial sector, more and more energy is demanded to be in line with the growth and expansion. Therefore, with the huge amount of energy used by the commercial sector, commercial energy efficiency becomes crucial for saving energy and being environmental friendly.

Indeed, there are many different ways can be used to help save energy in the commercial sector. The methods can be from proper planning and designing to some small and simple acts by the building occupant to help save huge amount of energy used.

First, the design of the building structure in the commercial sector can play a major role in commercial energy efficiency. In fact, with proper planning and designing, any building owner will be able to construct an energy efficient building with benefits for everyone, the owner as well as the environment. As a result, the building owner will be able to save more than 50 percent of energy used by minimizing the required maintenance for the building. In fact, it will also help to increase the comfort and health for the occupant in the building, and hence increase the productivity, which may also result in saving more energy required to perform a similar task. Furthermore, some of the small acts that can be performed to be more energy efficient are switching the computer to sleep mode when not in use and turn off the light when not in use. By switching the computer to sleep mode will allow the computer to run on the minimum required energy and hence saving a lot of energy than having your computer to be constantly active. Furthermore, do turn off the light in the office when it is not in use. For example, in an office room or a research lab, during a long break like lunch break do switch off the light when no one is occupying the room. It will indeed save a lot of energy consumed by the building from doing so.

Indeed to achieve commercial energy efficiency, proper planning and designing are required. Furthermore, with the acts of courtesy by every occupant in the building, it can help to save more energy and be more environmental friendly.
