Cost Of Solar Energy
Due to various environmental changes that have been hitting the earth and everything on it, there has been a sudden and drastic shift towards the usage of renewable sources of energy. There are various renewable sources of energy. The main sources are solar energy, wind energy, hydro electricity, bio energy etc.
In today’s economy, the harnessing of solar energy and wind energy are really picking up. The use of fossil fuel energy sources are decreasing at a very high rate. This is because; the fossil fuels are also non-renewable sources of energy. They are exhaustible and are now on the very verge of becoming completely exhausted. Secondly, the environment and Mother Nature has taken a severe beating because of the indiscriminate use of these resources. And thirdly because, the government has finally realized that he environmental conditions such as global warming cannot be controlled or reduced until and unless they start offering incentives and provide funding as well s other benefits for using and installing the materials required for harnessing renewable sources of energy.
What most of do not know is that the setting up either wind mills or PV (photovoltaic cells), in order to harness sunlight, costs comparatively much more than what one would pay to use the non renewable sources of energy. Photovoltaic cells are the arrays of cells, which are able to directly convert the energy obtained from the sun into electricity. They also help in storing the energy for future use when it is required.
Due to the high cost of initial investment, these sources of energy are not being used to the greatest of its potential. The main question which pops in everyone’s mind is that how much is the cost of solar energy. When you consider the short-term cost of solar energy, when compared to the energy of either coal or even petroleum, it works out to be approximately 7 to 8 times more. This is why there is very little demand in the market. However, because of the various steps and incentives taken by the government, there has been a considerable rise o f48 percentage in the overall use of solar energy, every 2 years, starting from 2003.
The good news is that would be of interest is that, as the production of PV cells and solar panels are increasing today, the process of installing solar energy is sure to fall drastically.
