You certainly have heard a lot about the global warming and the greenhouse effect. Everybody knows that it is caused by us- the humans. We contribute to the global warming and the greenhouse effect’s increasing power when we travel by our cars, when we go somewhere by plane, even when we use the electricity. And we all know that because they talk about it a lot. However, there is something else- another fact- which is of great significance but at the same time nobody talks about it. Did you know that 20 per cent of the carbohydrate oxides’ emissions are produced by the business companies’ activity?

That is why not only we should be told that we must be more eco-oriented but the business companies should also be advised to think green! That is why I am going to give several energy efficiency tips which would help each company do less harm to the environment. But it is not only that- the energy efficiency is also good for the companies’ financial status- as a company owner you could be truly amazed how much money you could save.

But let’s start with the first tip. Think about all lighting fixtures which you have in your company- I am sure that many of them are needless or not eco-friendly. Haven’t you changed the lamps and bulbs yet? You should know that an energy-saving lamp will save you $7 annually and if you have 100 of them in the building, it makes $700 per year. It is not so little, is it? And you should also think about the “Exit” signs which you probably have above all exit-doors. You should know that there are already signs which can produce light in the dark without using electricity. This way you will save up to $12 annually from every sign- just do the sums: if you have 50 signs, you will save around $600 per year!

If there are many offices in the building of your company, you should also think about the electricity which all computers, faxes, printers and scanners consume. All these machines should be turned-off when they are not in use. The research shows that except for saving money, you will also prolong their life. Many people think just the opposite thing- they consider that a computer would work properly longer time if it is never turned-off. However, you should know it is not true at all!

Those were only several tips which would help your business save money and they will make it green also! By following those tips, you can be a proud businessperson who does as much as he/she can do so as to protect the environment.
