Energy Efficiency Lighting
Energy efficiency lighting is the optimal usage of energy to create the same effect or product which thereby would reduce the costs of producing that energy. We can use the smart lighting system for this purpose which is the fine tuning of each lamp’s brightness as per the surroundings so that it can adjust automatically to the constantly changing natural light conditions. This means, if the room has less light exposure then the lighting would be bright and vice-versa. This is more useful in places where each room needs a certain pattern of lighting and brightness. This system is becoming very popular around the globe nowadays and this is one reason why fluorescent bulbs are replacing incandescent bulbs. LED bulbs, Fluorescent bulbs are some of the bulbs that provide energy efficient lighting. There are researches going on now for inventing organic lighting system which would be twice more efficient than fluorescent lighting and eight times more efficient than incandescent lights. Now we’ll look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of energy efficiency lighting.
Advantages:
1. The energy consumption is very less when compared to the incandescent lighting system. The number of watts used by fluorescent lighting is 6 times lesser than the incandescent bulbs providing the same brightness. This brings down your bills and does not dig a hole in your pockets.
2. You can touch these fluorescent bulbs even when they are lit up. They are not hot like a pot of fire. But you cannot do that with an incandescent bulb. It will burn your fingers. Moreover, the less heat emission through these energy efficient bulbs helps keep the room temperature cool.
3. Its long lasting and more reliable.
4. There are no infra-red rays and less mercury content which makes the environment safer.
5. They can come in different colors, fancy designs and shapes. They are very funky and trendy.
6. There are lot of options too in terms of their shape and color.
7. It can be fixed up anywhere or place wherever the incandescent bulbs were used.
Disadvantages:
1. Even though fluorescent bulbs cut down your electrical costs over a period of time, the initial costs of setting them up is really high and expensive.
2. They are very sensitive to room temperatures and the durability depends on them. It’s important that it is not exposed to hot conditions or kept near a geyser or heater because the heat emitted from those appliances can shorten the life of the bulb.
3. They are not readily available in every place and it’s very difficult to buy a fluorescent bulb in a town or village because of the less awareness and exposure.
4. Being aware of the popularity of fluorescent bulbs, there are lot of people who are coming up with cheap and third quality bulbs. So it’s very important that you choose and pick up the best bulbs or you’ll end up with a duplicate piece.
