Energy Efficiency Savings

Efficient use of energy is necessary for energy conservation. This can be done either by decreasing the use of energy services or by decreasing the use of energy by looking for an alternative source. Energy conservation increases personal security and human comfort. It also adds to financial ad environmental value. Individuals strive to conserve energy to reduce costs while companies and industries do so to increase efficiency and profits.

Climate change has become a major cause of worry in recent times. Efficient use of energy lessens such climate change as it facilitates replacement of non renewable energy sources with renewable energy sources. The harmful greenhouse gases like methane can be thus reduced which will in turn reduce global warming.

When energy conservation is adopted in the workplace, it reduces operating costs. The workplace comfort becomes better and environment is also better protected. Three common energy efficiency lighting practices that companies and industries adopt to reduce costs are:

1. Fluorescent lighting: Such lighting being five times more efficient than incandescent lighting lasts 20 times longer.

2. Photo luminescent lighting: This kind of lighting requires no electricity and no maintenance, therefore cutting two kinds of cost. This kind of lighting is mostly used in exit signs and egress markings. Such exit signs are also 100% recyclable.

3. Automatic light dimmers: Light dimmers regulate brightness in accordance with natural light and schedule of work. With this you need not manually adjust the light yourself or nag your workers to do so.

There are also many ways to save on your household electric bill. One such easy way is to have a thermostat. Thermostats are inexpensive and save up to 20% on heating and cooling costs. Another method is to ask your electric company for time use plans. Such plans involve a lower unit rate when electricity is used at certain times of the day. Such plans keeps cost of utility lower at the same time prevent power cuts and black outs. Using appliances that are energy efficient also helps. Many manufacturers have been coming up with such products from washing machines to refrigerators to air coolers. Look for Energy Star rating next time you buy an appliance for your home. You can also replace your regular bulbs with energy saving ones. There are some homes that are using the renewable source of energy, solar power for various household activities. Solar power is an excellent method of energy conservation.
