The United Kingdom has a very prevalent usage of alternative energy. The people of United Kingdom have realized the benefits of the usage of alternative energy and most of them have actually stopped relying on fossil fuels. Energy is used by all of us. We use energy for most of our daily needs from heating of water to cooking. The energy we consume everyday only results in sky-high electric bills. However, by using alternative energy we are actually helping ourselves as well as the environment. It is a way of contributing to our precious environment, which is on the verge of degrading. The energy-consumed everyday is also reduced and there is a decline in our electric bills, which gradually goes down to zero.

Even today the country sides of United Kingdom is seen dotted with plenty of windmills. The wind energy is ecologically sound and it is quite simple and easy to use the wind energy. The wind farms are nothing but wind turbines; all set up in the same location and generate power. The British Wind Energy Association controls all the wind farms in the United Kingdom. There are around 127 farms in the United kingdom and around 1600 wind turbines, all operated by the BWEA.  

The usage of solar energy is also making it big in the United Kingdom. People find it very convenient to install solar panels in their houses, which just capture the sunlight throughout the day, and this energy is used. The best part with the usage of solar energy is that the energy captured can be stored for cloudy days and for night times too. The usage of solar energy has become extremely popular in the United Kingdom of late and the people have accepted it as it helps them save a lot of money. In fact, there are even debates as to whether the solar energy industry will even overtake the internet in the United Kingdom! The solar energy industry is doing extremely well that it might even over take the solar sectors of other countries like Spain, Germany etc.  

United Kingdom is currently actively taking part in the usage of alternative energy. It has followed the path of the other countries who have taken going green serious.
