Energy Efficient Electric
As the world economy and a rising inflation does not get any better, and in fact economists had predicted that it will become worse, many feel the jitters and fears of losing their jobs and their ‘golden rice bowls’ as some calls it. We have heard some large corporations merged and retrenched people. Big banks are falling apart. And who knows what will happen next? Many households tried to scrimp and save on whatever things which are unnecessary just in case their bosses give them, or have already given them the ‘golden hand shake’. Many are worried when their next meals are coming from. In the midst of all these chaos happening, there are simple ways which goes a long way in helping you to save money. Many may not realized it – it all starts in the home.
Why not consider purchasing energy efficient electric appliances? These include, but are not limited to, refrigerators, washers and dryers, stoves, air conditioners, laptops and computers, water heaters, etc. Saving energy that your house consumes saves you money. So how do we determine which electric appliances are energy-efficient? How do we buy them and what are their advantages?
Firstly, read the energy guide label on the appliances. All new appliances will have an energy label attached to them as required that states the estimated consumption of annual energy use. You can use this label to compare the efficiency between different brands and models of, e.g. refrigerators. Next, after reading the energy label, consider both the price and energy use of the appliances. All home appliances, whether they are energy-efficient or not, look the same on the outside, but they differ greatly in terms of energy-efficiency and operating costs. The more energy-efficient it is, the less it will cost to run, thereby lowering your utility bill. Although in many cases, energy efficient electric appliances are more expensive, you can actually save money in the long run.
By purchasing energy efficient electric appliances, you are doing your part in saving the environment. How is that so? Research has found that an average home causes more air pollution than an industrial area, or a car. The energy that the household uses comes from power plants, which burns fossil fuels. Burning fossil fuels causes more air pollution, and thereby causes global warming. Therefore, by using these energy-efficient appliances, you are saving money, as well as doing your part in saving the earth.
