All of you probably know what an energy electric company means. The reason is that our life nowadays is totally dependent on the electricity. You don’t believe it?! Just ask yourself the question what you would be doing now if there was no electricity. Would you be reading this article? Would you be watching television? Would you be listening to music? Shall I go on? As you can see we depend on the electricity a lot, really a lot. And that is what probably makes the energy electric companies kind of not-caring about their clients.

However, before talking about the attitude of the electric companies towards their clients, we are going to make it clear what an electric company actually does! Well, the best explanation would be something like: the electric companies are those who supply us with electricity. But you should know that they are not the ones who generate the electricity- it is produced in nuclear or electric plants! For example, there could be only one main generator of electricity but three, four and more electric companies which are playing the role of distributors.

Those electric companies are responsible for the cost and quality of the electricity which we are provided with. It depends on their work and equipment how well the electricity is going to be transformed and transported until it “arrives” at our homes. The electric companies are also responsible for damages and problems which may occur- for example, if the electricity in your home has been cut off or there is anything else which concerns you, those are the companies which you should refer to!

Unfortunately, for the last years we could see that the electric companies are treating their clients in an awful way. And of course they do it because they know that there will be no consequences- you probably know that almost all electric companies are monopolists. And do you know what monopoly means? It is probably the worst word in the macroeconomics- it means that there is a particular line of business in which only one company is specialized. Therefore, there is no competition which means that the monopolists can do whatever they want. It doesn’t sound good, don’t you think so?

I know that it probably built a negative attitude towards the electric companies but everything which is said in the article is 100% true. And we can only hope that things will change soon and we will be paid more attention as consumers of electric energy!
