Future Alternative Energy

Scientists are putting in their best efforts to make alternative energy forms available to man in future. Solar power among these is the most commonly used source. Photovoltaic cells are used by solar power to convert sunlight into electricity. The more advanced and refined the technology becomes, the lesser the cost for the end user. Solar energy can be of use not only for electricity generation but also for heating – it could be for heating water or for keeping homes warm in winter. The great advantage of solar energy is that there is plenty of sunlight available and it is unlikely that the sun will wither away in the near future, unlike petroleum products where there is a serious concern of the supplies depleting and it being more difficult to unearth fresh oil reserves. The other big help of solar energy is that it does not contribute towards pollution in any way since it only uses the rays of the sun to convert into energy. Today, more and more researchers are finding cheaper methods of harnessing the energy of the sun for the benefit of the common man.

There are generally two basic solar systems which are available: one would be in the form of photovoltaic cells where energy is stored in the form of batteries and this can be used to perform most household functions. The other would be the type of energy which is generated by the photovoltaic cells and this is connected directly to the electric grid –here what happens, is that the more you use energy which is generated with the help of your own photovoltaic cells, this gets reflected as an energy credit in your favor which can help in reducing your electricity bill.

We must all be sensible and think about the future else our children will have real problems with energy generation.

Now with governmental support and various private foundations, money is being pumped into discovering new sources of energy and bringing down the cost so as to make it affordable for the common man.

For instance, let us have a look at automobiles – the choices of alternative sources are LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), hybrid electric cells etc. The automobile industry has realized that their industry is one of the biggest contributors towards pollution and one of the highest users of petroleum oils and hence has decided to become more responsible and play their part.
