Grants For Energy Efficiency
The generation of energy is a very costly process. It is not just the money that we are talking about but also the other factors such as time, labor, etc. So, just because we are able to pay for it, we must not use energy lavishly. In order to ensure that energy is used efficiently, most governments have come forward with grants to aid us in improving energy usage. Sometimes, grants are also offered by the local council and also the energy suppliers.
There are no laws stating that the government should provide grants for improving energy efficiency. But, there are some private organizations and some NGO’s that offer grants to help us improve our energy usage. These grants are provided for the sole purpose of implementing energy efficiency measures. It is strictly forbidden to use this money for other purposes. You can find many ways to get grants for energy efficiency by just searching the World Wide Web. There are many websites which offer information about how to get grants in a particular area and also about the eligibility criteria for each grant.
Recently, the Obama Administration has promised 3.2 billion dollars to aid in improving energy efficiency in some states and cities in US. According to this act, the government will provide grants for all fresh and existing programs that deal with improving the efficiency of energy usage. This act will cover all parts of US.
The Southern California Gas Company offers grants of about $300,000 to commercial buildings to ensure that proper energy efficiency measures are installed and are put to work.
In some countries, people are given tax benefits for taking energy efficiency measures. In UK, the EAGA group offers financial grants to residential building owners who are not able to employ efficiency measures on their own.
The Chicago Bungalow Association is an important non governmental association in England that offers about $3000 for home owners who wish to take energy efficiency measures in their bungalows.
Though there are lots of grants available to assist us in transforming our buildings for energy efficiency, we must not depend solely upon them. As the dominant species of this world, it is our duty to ensure that energy is not wasted. So, even if the government refuses to provide grants, we must employ energy efficiency methodologies. We must do this in order to preserve energy for our future generations.
