Heat Light Energy

You probably know a lot of things about energy and that it is what makes everything around us happen. Yes, it is strange but the energy is everything, everywhere, in everyone. But you probably also know that there are a lot of kinds of energy- potential energy, kinetic energy and even heat energy!

You are probably wondering whether I am kidding right now- you don’t think that there is something called heat energy, do you? Of course, there is and the diversification is actually so complicated that we can divide the heat energy into 3 smaller groups. Students usually learn about them in the 4th grade but I bet that you do not remember the facts which you are going to be informed about right now.

Firstly, you are going to learn about the so called conduction heat energy. Its name hints how it appears and I am going to explain it to you by a very simple example. You have probably boiled something- milk, soup, pasta or whatever- and you know that if you leave a metal spoon in the boiling liquid, the spoon will become hot very fast. That is because of the conduction heat energy!

The other kind of heat energy is the convection energy. It is a little bit more complicated for explanation and that is why I will give you an example with our boiling soup. Let’s imagine that we have a saucepan on a hot-plate and while it is there, we mix two kinds of soup- cold and hot which are with different colors. We can see that the hot soup will move up from the bottom of the saucepan (which is the hottest spot) and will try to “reach” the cooler places. And the cold soup will be moving down to the bottom, where the temperature is higher. Now, I am sure that you got what I meant but still if we needed to give a definition of convection energy, it would be something like: the movement of liquids and gases with different temperature in a way their temperature becomes equal! It is so simple, isn’t it?

And the third kind of heat energy is the radiation. We actually have a nature source of radiation- the sun. Yes, it might sound strange but the sun rays could be actually called heat rays because they are like “streams” of heat energy which are traveling from the sun to the Earth through the empty space!

But as we mentioned the sun, we should also make it clear what the light energy is. Actually, as we gave so much information about the heat energy, we also informed you about the light energy. Do you wonder how that is possible? Well, it is because the scientists have proved that the light energy cannot exist without heat energy or said in other words- if there is light energy, it means that there is heat energy also! It is so simple, isn’t it?
