How Does Solar Energy Work?

 

  

       

Solar energy is a type of alternate fuel, which is obtained from the energy of the sun. In this process, the heat energy of the sun is absorbed by the solar panels and then converted into any form of energy, which is desired by the user and then used. There are many people who claim that after using the solar panels the electricity bills to their home has stopped coming they say. Hence, of all the alternate fuel processes it is the solar energy, which is the most economical, since solar panels can even, be kept on the terrace of the house. The installation of the solar panels is indeed very simple and easy, but the understanding of these panels and the working of these panels are really very complex. Fossil fuels are obtained from plants, which capture the sun light and energy and transform them into energy and store them for the later uses. This is exactly how the process of solar energy works; they collect the energy from the sun and either process them right away or use them for later use. Solar energy conversions are of two types, the solar thermal process and the photovoltaic process. The solar thermal process is done by using the sun’s energy directly in order to obtain the heat and this heat energy are transferred to water or the spaces of the buildings. These panels are positioned so as to absorb the heat from the sun directly.        

In the photovoltaic method, the cells are silicon based; these panels do not get hot upon absorption of the sun’s rays. The solar panel is made up of a combination of many solar cells; these panels are sometimes linked together for obtaining power at a greater amount. The solar energy absorbed acts as an exciter for the solar cells and the electrons lying underneath. The current produced in this method is always the direct current or the DC current. However, since this form of current cannot be used for common purposes a generator or a converter is used to convert them into alternate current. There is always lose of current in the current production process, but in this method, the current leakage is minimal. The solar energy has a number of elements such as the molecules and the electrons; all these are brought together and then transformed into electricity in the solar panels.
