Hydrogen Renewable Energy

Hydrogen is a clean form of renewable energy that portends no damage at all to the environment. Hydrogen renewable energy can be obtained from sources like water and hydrocarbons as opposed to other conventional sources of energy like the fossil fuels that cannot be renewed. Hydrogen does not exist on its own as it is an inert gas; however, it can be gotten from the above sources by the heating in special control chambers.

Hydrogen is readily available in the universe and accounts for about 75% of the universe. As a form of renewable energy, hydrogen usage has been widely preferred by NASA since the 1970s in its space exploration programs. The use of hydrogen fuel does not damage the environment in any way and thus leaves no carbon foot print. Hydrogen renewable energy has found other important usages in the manufacturing industries particularly in the making of ammonia and refining petroleum products

However, our main concern here is to look at the uses of hydrogen as a potential energy providing source. In itself, hydrogen burns to produce electricity in specials cells called fuel cells. This technology has been employed by NASA to cater for the power needs of its shuttles in space. However, some car manufacturers have also taken up the idea and are exploring ways of making the hydrogen car sustainable. Even though there are hydrogen cars available, the cost of their production has meant that their entry into the market comes with a high price tag.

The advantage of these hydrogen cars is the fact that a hydrogen engine does not pollute the environment when it burns to provide the fuel, to power the car. With the advent of futuristic technologies however, hydrogen cars are at last at arm’s length away. Research has enabled the use of ways that can better make the use of hydrogen more efficient and readily available.

Hydrogen has a lot of energy when burnt to produce fuel. Given the fact that this is done at zero effect to the environment; hydrogen energy as a renewable form of energy presents a real possibility in the fight against global warming. Even though it may be expensive, if done at lager scale level, hydrogen energy could be used to power homes and even towns. The energy produced by this element is vast and sufficient to cater for part of the ever increasing need for energy.
