Nrel Renewable Energy
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory, situated in Golden, Colorado is the apex body of US involved primarily in sustained effort in research and development of renewable energy. It saw its dawn in 1974 but began its full-fledged operations in 1977. The NREL faced numerous fluctuations under different administrations. It is the only federal laboratory wholly involved in the work of intelligent deployment and commercialization of energy saving technologies. In this way, it is rendering yeoman’s service to strengthening the nation and helps to meet the growing demand for clean energy. With a strong backing of the country, NREL has created a niche for itself, reaching higher peaks of success as days go by.
32 years of experience has drilled the importance of safety of environment, public and visitors into the underlying fundamental directive of the organization. In its commitment to ensuring protection against all hazards, NREL has not deviated from its path of supplying safe and renewable energy in all aspects of its working, while adhering to quality management systems. It deals with all forms of energy that are renewable, like sunlight, rain, tides, wind, hydropower, bio-fuels and geothermal heat which are naturally replenished.
Areas covered: NREL’s areas of research and development proficiency are:
* Renewable fuel
* Assimilation of energy systems
* Planned energy analysis
Goal: With safety of environment at its heart, the workforce of NREL takes into consideration the impact their work may create on environment. Therefore, while they concentrate on their gigantic task, they also keep an eye on:
* The type and amount of wastes produced and find ways to minimize it
* The potential dangers of pollutants to land, air, water, flora and fauna, wildlife and other natural resources of the country.
Sites: Two of the important sites of NREL are
* South Table Mountain
* National Wind Technology Centre
Both of them are located in sparsely populated, undeveloped areas and can rightly boast of the help they provide in preserving nature and fostering love for wildlife. NREL balances the ecosystems at and around the work site.
Be it in the field of research, development of energy resources or implementation of guidelines lain out by them, NERL has stood tall and rock strong down its few decades of life. It metes out practical, workable solution to problems faced by individual businesses and mitigates dangers of global warming.
