Residential Solar Energy Systems

Due to the great importance of having to shift crucially into the maximum use of renewable sources of energy, many of the building and construction companies are now offering Residential Solar Energy Systems.

The energy of the sun is the greatest as well as the sun’s rays are the most widely available source of energy. It is more available than wind energy and hydro energy. The energy from the rays of the sun can now be tapped in cells called solar cells. These cells not only help in enabling us to tap the suns energy, but it also converts it into electricity and the best part is that this electricity which is attained, can be stored in these cells until it is needed in the future.

Solar energy is gaining importance as the days go by. So far, the solar energy has been utilized for purposes such as lighting of street lamps and lighting for the house, cooking of food and boiling of water, water heaters etc. Solar cells capture the energy from the sun and helps light the roads etc in the developing areas as well as in the areas of power cuts and where emergency lights are used widely.

The houses that are being constructed today have this solar panel on its roof. This solar panel is a long and large sheet made up of these solar cells that help in tapping, converting and storing the energy from the sun in the form of electricity. This energy is then used by the people living in the house to light their garden lights, as well as the lights that are used inside the house. Residential Solar Energy Systems also involve the using of solar water heaters. These heaters are metallic pipes that are placed on top of the roof of the house. When the water is required to be heated, the water current flows through the metallic pipes that are exposed to the sun, and thus the water gets heated. The next major use of solar power is in the process of cooking, wherein the pressure cooker is placed on a metallic reflector sheet, which contains these solar cells, and help focus the solar energy to a limited area. Thus cooking is made possible.

The using of solar powered equipments at home not only helps make the environment cleaner and greener, but also reduces the electricity bills largely.
