Like any other energy source the solar energy would have a measuring unit and it would be prices as per the same. The measuring unit for the solar energy is kWh which would mean kilo watts per hour. The prices of the same would vary and hence it is not fair to say anything about the average prices if a unit of solar energy. But one thing that could be said for sure is the fact that per unit price of the solar energy is definitely way less than what anyone would be paying for purchasing a unit of fossil fuel.

The solar energy cost concept works differently as compared to the other fossil fuels. To put the same in simple words, it could be understood the fossil fuels do not need any kind of installation. These could be used as is for any purpose these are purchased for. On the other hand, in case you are planning to use solar energy or any other kind of renewable energy, you need to have a set up, an installation for the same. You can’t go to the market and ask for a certain amount of solar energy. You need to have the solar panels installed, which would incur a great deal of cost depending upon the need of solar energy that you have.

However, the good news is that the solar energy installation cost is a onetime expense. In fact, the running solar energy cost would make you believe that the installation cost in not even an expense but an investment. The running cost would be as low as negligible. The reduced expense on power and energy would make that fact even more concrete when you would start using the same. If that is not alluring, you would be glad to know that the solar energy plant doesn’t need a lot of maintenance and therefore the solar energy cost of maintenance is almost zero. On the other hand, the machinery and appliances that use fossil fuels to work would need a lot of care and maintenance. This would not only add to the cost but at the same time would pollute the environment. The fossil fuels might not need an installation and could be purchase from the market, but these are expensive which takes the running expenses of production or energy consumption through these non-renewable resources high.

Last but not the least, the solar energy cost even if was four times as much as it is per kwh would have been less as compared to the cost that we are paying by using fossil fuels, by damaging the environment and inviting the catastrophe of global warming.
