Solar Hydrogen Energy
The renewable resources of energy are really taking a turn. It seems that there has already being a shift from the non-renewable resources to the renewable one. May be people are fascinated by the cost effectiveness of the renewable resources or they are genuinely concerned about the environmental problems. Whatever the case may be, there has been a slight improvement in terms of awareness and promotions of the renewable resources of energy. Solar energy has been the most popular one date, for the obvious reasons. However, with the solar hydrogen energy being talked about it seems hydrogen energy would now be explored.
The solar hydrogen energy could be understood as the use of solar energy to break the water compound (h2o) as h2 meaning hydrogen and o meaning oxygen. Needless to say, that due to the pollution the level of carbon dioxide is increasing in the environment day by day and hydrogen could be used as a fuel (gas). By using the energy from the sun, which again is a renewable resource of energy, there would be renewable hydrogen gas and more oxygen in the environment. Clearly, it seems that the solar hydrogen energy has benefits many fold.
On the other hand, the hydrogen is a very environmental friendly fuel as compared to the fossil fuels for that matter.
Firstly, the hydrogen energy or gas would reduce the pollution levels in the environment considerably; whereas, the non-renewable resources add to the pollution levels. In a fuel cell the hydrogen energy is combined with oxygen to produce energy like electricity. This could be used in the same way in which electricity is uses, even to run vehicles. The by-products of burning of this hydrogen gas are heat and water.
Secondly, it is much easier to produce hydrogen gas and could be produces locally from various sources. Like any other production, hydrogen gas could be produced centrally and could further be distributed locally for use or could just be produced locally for that matter. The sources of hydrogen gas would include gasoline, methane, biomass, water or coal. The process and the technical challenges would differ depending upon the source of hydrogen in question.
Thirdly, the solar hydrogen energy could be really looked up to as we already have a sustainable system in place which could split water into oxygen and hydrogen. The process is called electrolysis. The only variations would be that now we would be using the electrolysis to produce hydrogen by using solar energy.
Clearly, solar hydrogen energy looks quite promising considering the global warming and put a stop to the use of non-renewable energy.
