What Is Wind Energy?

Wind can be felt everywhere in every part of the world. There is no place on earth that the wind did not travel. Strong wind consists of enough energy to destroy a whole region and even city such as tornado. In fact, the wind energy can be used to your benefits. Nonetheless, you might have heard a lot about having wind energy as an alternative renewable energy to help produce electricity. Therefore, you might also wonder what wind energy is.

Basically, wind energy is the force from the moving air. Nonetheless, wind is simply the atmospheric air in motion. The motion of the wind is basically resulted by the radiation that the uneven heating from the sun to the ground.  As a result the hot air will and cool air will be drawn to the lower pressured ground to replace the hot air, this cycle of motion is what being called wind. Therefore, since there is motion involved in wind, then there should have kinetic energy, and that is the wind energy. Then the wind energy system will convert this wind energy into other form of energy that is more useful to us, which is also known as an electrical energy.

The wind energy system that is what used to convert the wind kinetic energy into a more useful form of wind energy, the wind electrical energy, is known as the wind turbines. In fact, it is the mechanical power of the wind turbines powered by the wind energy that is used transform the wind kinetic energy into another form of wind energy, which is the win electrical energy. The wind energy system basically works by collecting the wind kinetic energy with its blades, and then the turning blades will cause the shaft that is connecting to the blades to turn, and hence generating wind electrical energy with an electric generator.

It is safe to say basically the wind energy that is used as an alternative renewable energy is the more useful wind electrical energy that is generated from the win kinetic energy. Matter of fact, since the wind kinetic energy is resulted from the motion of air that is caused by constant uneven heating from the sun on the ground at different time and places; therefore, the wind energy can be also be defined as another form of solar energy. Indeed, it is the solar energy that helps to generate the kinetic energy from the wind.
