In electric fan, electric power is used for turning the blades, whereas in wind mill, the blades are rotated for producing electric power.

There are two main types of wind turbines that are being used for producing electric energy is large scale. They both work on the same principle. As wind hits the blades, they will be rotated and in turn, turns a shaft. This shaft will be connected to a generator, which produces electric energy. Two-blade turbines and three-blade turbines are the two main types of wind turbines. Two-blade turbines will be placed in a such a way that they face away from wind whereas the three-blade turbines will be placed in such a way that they face the wind. Normally numerous turbines are combined for creating wind farms that can provide electric power to large buildings.

Wind turbines can even be installed in houses. The energy produced by these wind mills can be used for some specific purposes as the magnitude will be low. The best idea is to install a dozen of small wind mills and a grid tie system. If you are investing on these, you can even power your house even if there is no wind. The technology used in wind turbines is quickly advancing and this gives hope for the future. In short, wind energy education will acquire more importance among the people as this may replace other sources of energy in the future.
