Wind Energy Training
No one is aware that the wind energy has extreme potential and can even power the whole world. However, the fact lies that not many of us have given the idea of powering our very own homes with the help of wind energy much thought. We would have heard of wind energy being used in sailboats and in windmills. For many decades, people have relied on wind energy but it is also to be noted that wind energy not only gives us a clean source of energy but also provides employment to a whole lot of people. The wind energy is renewable and it does not produce any by products. Carbon- dioxide is not emitted, as water is not used as a source. It is phenomenal that one can actually use the wind energy to power one’s home.
The only drawback about using wind energy is that it can be very expensive as special plants have to be built exclusively for this purpose and erection of turbines is required. However the technology that is behind the usage of wind energy is extremely simple and it is not necessary that a trained engineer should keep checking on it throughout the year. The maintenance cost is extremely low and hence this is said to compensate the initial expensive setting up charges.
There has been quite a deal of controversy regarding the usage of wind energy. However, for centuries, people have been using wind energy and even today, we can spot windmills in many of our rural areas. Due to increased energy crisis, the usage of wind energy has become very popular and because of the modern technology, it is not only said to practical but also efficient. A standard petroleum plant can be easily replaced by a erecting a few acres of wind towers.
So how exactly does wind energy work. The technology behind wind turbines is extremely similar to that of a fan. The only difference being it works reverse. The fan produces cool air or wind with the usage of electricity and the wind turbine produces electricity with the usage of wind. The wind produces kinetic energy and the wind turbines capture this energy, converting it into electricity. However, the electricity initially produced in the form of direct current and requires a transformer to convert the DC power into AC power. Only after this conversion, the electricity can be used for homes.
