Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide
You may have seen a lot of buzz in the news recently about food grade hydrogen peroxide and are wondering what it is. I certainly did when I heard about it. To me, the words food and hydrogen peroxide didn’t go over so well and it made no sense to me. Isn’t hydrogen peroxide the stuff that you use in order to clean out wounds and that type of thing? I mean I know there are alternative to this stuff that you might be more familiar with but to me this sounded like this stuff that my mom used to clean my knees with whenever I would get a boo-boo or a scrape. So it confused me how there could be such a thing as food grade hydrogen peroxide out there when it seemed like something you shouldn’t really be putting in your food. So I set out to research it a bit and come up with some answers as to what food grade hydrogen peroxide actually was and what it meant to us. These were my findings. Essentially, it doesn’t matter how much hydrogen there is or that it is peroxide. Those things all go to burning or to bleaching your hair. The really important thing about hydrogen peroxide is that it has a lot of oxygen content. The oxygen content is arguably the most important part of the stuff because it is what makes the product work so well for all of its uses.
In fact, we should spend some more time around this type of hydrogen peroxide because it is one of the few types that is commercially available for anyone to get their hands on and it has nearly ten times the oxygen content of a regular bottle of the cheap stuff you’d get at a gas station or drug store. The stuff is really helpful to anyone particularly that has any reason to be around oxygen. For example, say you eat a ton of fatty foods. Do you ever see people breathing heavily that are also fat and wonder why they have breathing problems. It is not because there is so much fat that it blocks their windpipe or any of those silly myths, it is because the high fat content of their food makes it so that they have a hard time processing oxygen in their system causing them to breathe heavily and have issues. If they had more hydrogen peroxide or more oxygen in their food it would help them do a better job of processing it and therefore breathing better.
