Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are something which appeared on the market not very long time ago. However, they seem to be gaining more and more popularity due to the many advantages which they give over the ordinary vehicles which use fuel such as diesel or gas.

Anyway before mentioning anything about the advantages given by the hydrogen cell vehicles, it is needed to make it clear what they are and why they are different from the other vehicles. Well it is not difficult to come up with the idea that they are different mainly because of the fuel they need. As you know most of the vehicles (cars, busses, motorcycles or even planes) need oil so as to function. But you are also likely to know that oil storages are limited and we are going to run out of them one day. So our civilization definitely cannot count on oil to develop, we need sources which are renewable and we are never going to run out of! Fortunately, that’s the hydrogen.

Yes, you might say that hydrogen is a chemical element and nothing more than that. Luckily, you are not right because hydrogen has always had many usages but it seems that its appliance as fuel (replacement for oil) will be one giant step in decreasing our society’s dependence on oil and other non-renewable sources of energy. So it is obvious that the hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are designed and constructed in a way that they use the energy given by the hydrogen.

And people really do seem to show interest in that even though the hydrogen fuel’s cost is quite higher than the diesel or the natural gas. For instance, a liter of diesel does not cost more than $2.00 whereas a liter of hydrogen fuel costs between $5.00 and $12.00 depending on the way it has been produced. And here is the place to mention that hydrogen fuel can be produced in various ways (from solar power, from natural gas, from wind power and many others). That’s why the price varies. However, that should not stop anyone from purchasing hydrogen fuel cell vehicles because it has been proved that the hydrogen fuel is nearly thrice more efficient than the diesel or natural gas. So pretty much the same amount of money will be spent on fuel but there is something very important: you will be driving your car with the thought you are not doing any harm to the environment and our planet.
