This process yields high amounts of hydrogen which can be purified to certain degrees and then can be used in many industries including food additives.Gas generators are also commonly used by hybrid vehicles. However only advanced models utilize the gas generator. The mechanics of the process are significantly different. An electrical current is passed through the water reserves of the car causing the water molecules to break down into hydrogen. The hydrogen is then passed into the electrolysis process where it is further broken down to its components which are protons and electrons.

Protons are removed via a membrane which only permits electrons to pass through. The repulsion of protons is mainly due to the positive charge of the membrane. The electrons move towards the electrical circuit which powers the main functions of the vehicle. Ultra capacitors are used to power vital processes when the engine is shut off during idle times. Air conditioning and lighting can be kept on for several hours via the capacitors. Hydrogen gas generators come in a wide array of sizes and power outputs. These devices are used in portable fuel cells and industrial grade power supplies. The benefits of using hydrogen are the clean exhaust it produces. It has a high percentage of renewability and is entirely green during combustion. Hydrogen has many potential benefits that will be unlocked in the future.
