The list above includes some of the companies and the format in which they appear in any directory service reference. For a company to operate a mine in Canada prerequisites are required by the Government, for example companies must show good financial records and they must be able to indentify what minerals they are interested in extract, do a survey about it and then give a report to the licensing body for it to access and give recommendations.

Recommendation will be issued on a written document upon an approval. A company is required to pay non license fee to the licensing body after which the company can quote and pay with income tax to the government.

Once the company is licensed it will then be subjected to the rules and regulations that govern the mining industries and failure to adhere to these rules would lead the company to trouble. The licensing procedure varies and depends on the companies’ area of interest, For example mining licensing procedures and requirement for gold miners may be utterly different from those of coal mining companies.

For any company interested to undertake any exploration activities the need for researching and getting to know how the industry works will be of outmost importance - any wrong step may cause the company to be turned down in the license application. The need for research and that of application itself may be done by a hired personnel, this may be a lawyer or a firm conversant with these issues.
