Gold Mining Company

By definition, mining is the process of extracting different valuable minerals from the earth such as coal, diamonds, salt, gold, potash or iron. Gold mining also relates to removing the gold from the ground.

Companies which are specialized in gold mining use different techniques in order to extract it. Gold planning is the oldest and the easier way used to extract this precious metal. It’s a simple process. The workers fill up the pans with sand which is believed to contain small gold parts. They sink the pans into the water and shake it in order to sort the gold from the sand as it has a higher density. This process is not economically productive as it’s a manual activity and implies processing very small quantities of precious metal.  Planning helps with identifying the areas where gold can be extracted.

Metal detecting is another technique. Workers walk holding a metal sensor to find gold. This device is very popular among diggers as it can read up to a meter distance into the ground.

On the other hand, sluicing is a more reasonable procedure, economically speaking, as it uses mechanical devices for producing larger quantities of gold. The miner loads the sluice box with dirt and sand, adding water to the mixture. As the gold is heavier, it settles at the bottom while the other particles are washed away. By dredging, the sediment is pumped up from the bottom of the water and then cast into the sluice.

To obtain pure gold, workers use cyanidation which refers to adding cyanide over the rocks thought to contain trace of gold. A chemical process takes place as the gold bonds to the cyanide being separated from the rock. Then workers add zinc to the gold cyanide in order to purify the precious metal. Underground mining is highly used, even if it’s more dangerous than other techniques. Many gold extraction companies use mechanized mining equipment taking safety precautions for the workers involved.

Gold mining is the most profitable industry worldwide. There are some prosper gold companies which have high annual sales. The top three world’s largest companies are: Barrick Gold Corporation - the gold industry leader, having 26 operating mines across five continents, the Goldcorp - a Canadian corporation which is the fastest gold producer and Newmont Mining Company which operates in many countries such as Ghana, Canada, United States, Uzbekistan, Bolivia, New Zealand, Mexico Australia, Peru, and Indonesia.
