Iron ores are rocks and minerals which yield metallic iron on extraction. Iron is found in numerous forms like magnetite, siderite, goethite, limonite etc. Steel is made from a raw material called Pig Iron. Pig Iron is also made from Iron Ore.

The principle iron producing states in India are Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the south of India, Bihar and Rajasthan in the north, Orissa in East and Goa and Maharashtra in the West. Every year the average consumption of iron ore hikes around 10%. Mainly by Japan Europe, USA, China and Korea.
