Nickel Mining Company

The increased demand in nickel over the last few years must have been occasioned by the increase in industrial activity in the far eastern countries as well as other developed countries. As the countries in the east quickly transformed into major industrial power houses, there was an automatic increase in demand not only for nickel but all other forms of metals used in industrial production. Copper and silver and iron pre are just but a few of the other metals whose demand increased significantly over the period.

Mainly used in the manufacture of coins and stainless steel, nickel mining has turned out to be a big business in recent times. Most countries with reach nickel reserves have largely benefited in the mining of the mineral as a major source of income. Some of the leading countries in nickel mining are Russia, Canada, Australia, Indonesia, New Caledonia, Colombia and the Philippines. Cuba and Brazil are also major miners of nickel.

As we look at the major nickel producing countries, it is important to note that the nickel mining is mostly done by companies and it is for this reason that we should have a glance at some of the companies that feature prominently in these countries. To begin with, in Columbia, we have Columbia Yukon explorations inclined which deals with lots of nickel mining but based in Canada. Eldorado gold cooperation is another Canadian based nickel mining company with outstanding market shares. In the same Canadian sector, we also have another major player, first quantum minerals ltd which also holds a major stake in the nickel mining sector. So far the most prominent and top ranking company in nickel production is the U.S based Freeport Mcmoran copper and gold INC. this company has the largest market capital followed by another U.S based New Mont mining cooperation. Several other players exist in other parts off the world although the U.S and Canadian based companies seem to be leading the pack in many aspects of nickel mining.

While some compan9ies get involved in the practical mining of the nickel mineral as a daily economic activity, it is also important to note that some others are involved in the distributorship or value addition on the already mined mineral. Nonetheless, all the companies which deal with the mining, distribution and/or value addition all have a major role in the industry. There are several players including share holders in the stock exchange who all contribute to the mining of nickel either directly or through their indirect input.
