Coal is a very important commodity, this energy product is the driving economic force behind many countries in the world today, the surge of demand for the mineral as an alternative mineral has caused it to enjoy many benefits. Producing companies have taken this advantage in the production and sale of volumes of coal, the demand however has proved to be very high, this has caused the coal prices to rise, creating a very attractive business opportunity for these companies.

NSW New South Wales coal mining is one of the industries enjoys these benefits, that have brought about economic growth the NSW area.  With coal prices on the rise the government has been able to start specific programs that were a problem initially because of lack of funds.  But with this move in the industry, nothing seems to be impossible for the government financially; revenue from this has financed new infrastructure projects and the refinancing of stalled ones. This has caused improved living condition for the people of NSW, The government has also been invest more on opportunities that guarantee prosperity of the NSW state.

One of the coal fields that have propelled this major milestone is the Hunter Coalfield Mine.  This new coal mine has played a big role in the NSW coal mining industry, through the recent developments in rise of coal prices has enabled this coal mine to expand it operation, the coal mine has had rampant expansion on it mine fields. The coal field in these area have enjoyed major contribution from the NSW government, these contribution has come as financial aid for the expansion coal mine operations ,the other coalfield that has received major uplift from the NSW government if the Newcastle Coalfield, the NSW government extended a grant approval for the Donaldson mining company, the grants were in excess of 83 million dollars, the grant was directed to Abel underground coal mine, a subsidiary of Donaldson mines.

In the Newcastle coalfield there exist many areas that have coal deposits but have not yet been explored, however the mining companies in this areas are receiving major donation from the government to facilitate excavation of coal from this area.

The NSW coals mines are numerous, and exist named under numerous coalfields, there are about five major five coalfields in this area, primary activities being that of coal extraction. The NSW government is a central player on this coal fields.
