Placer Mining Equipment

Placer gold is the gold found in small nugget form or tiny chunks of loose gold. In areas rich in gold and gold mines, the gold is usually found scattered on the ground. These tiny chinks or pieces or nuggets are technically termed as Placer gold.

In countries, where a certain area is confirmed to have gold rich deposits in the soil, people usually take up Placer gold hunting as an amateur Placer hunter. Most of the areas where the gold mine had been functioning for years and have yielded gold, but are now shut down due to completion of the gold extraction, have become popular tourist attractions.

Placer mining is essentially done on a low cost basis and purely pursued on a personal basis. But in areas where the labor is utterly cheap, Placer mining has been used to mine gold on a commercial basis too.

Metal detector:

Metal detectors are the universal favorite among the gold diggers and gold hunters as well as the amateur miners. Due to their ultra sensitivity to the presence of the metal, it picks up signals and gives an indication of gold being hidden underneath the surface of the ground. Pan:

A Pan is just a simple dish like structure made of either plastic or made up of metal. It is quite large and the Placer ore is place on the Pan. On manual and vigorous succutions of the Pan by the worker or the gold hunter, the gold is filtered out from the gravel. Pans can be used conveniently by the gold hunters and amateurs too. The old Pans have been now replaced with innovative models. There are a variety of additional features in some of the models like a Riffle design to trap the gold using gravity, or the high impact Plastic Pan which reduces the panning time in half with a 3/ 8'' sieve.

Sluice Box:

Sluice method employs Sluice boxes to extract the gold from Placer ore. There are a variety of sluice boxes in sizes ranging from Hand sluice to mini sluice and Super Mini sluice, available in the market nowadays. The gold hunters or the amateur gold miners usually prefer the handy and small types, which makes them quite convenient to carry around in their mining and gold hunting expeditions.
