Underground Coal Mining Equipment

Coal which is used for the generation of electricity is generally excavated from the earth by the process called coal mining and is in use as a power source since 1880.Other uses of coal includes its use in the mining of iron ore and iron in cement and steel industries .Colliery is generally the name given by various countries and sub continents to coal mines and other areas from where coal can be extracted. But especially in case of Australia it is known as "Colliery" - trying to point out the underground coal mines where underground coal mining is done.

A number of equipment is required to complete this overall complex process of underground coal mining. Technology and science has come up with tools that have made the life of coal miners much easier. Some of the tools to be mentioned are:-

Longwall Equipment is a hydraulic pump which is especially designed for the purpose of extreme power as well as safety. It is made in such a way that various companies are providing these pumps as a source of 87dba of power generation with internal fan cooled motor for optimum usage and it uses 250kw ampere of electricity for its functioning.

Roadway equipment for the purpose of drilling and construction is also used in underground mining. This equipment are suitable for digging purposes at a continuous rate which enables the underground mining industry a solution for digging related glitches

Minesafe Radiator Valves are used in underground coal mining industry for the purpose of saving the spread of any radioactive radiation which may erupt due to excavation. These valves absorb most of these radiations approximately from 80 - 90 percent and secure the hazardous environment.

Stone dusting equipment is also used in order to clear away the non-required part left over after the drilling part is over. It is a very useful tool used in order to save time and energy required in the mining process. It helps in preventing the spread of Silica and thus prevents health hazards like silicosis.

Gas monitoring equipment is used in order to detect the amount of gas released during quarrying process. This equipment help in monitoring the poisonous as well as some industrially useful gases dug up during the underground mining process.

Other components used include ventilation equipment which is required for the safety of the workers in the field. During the mining of narrow veins the amount of air required for respiration decreases and thus these ventilation units are required.
