Canada Oil Jobs
The economic crisis has resulted in most of the world losing jobs at a startling rate. But the complete opposite is true when it comes to Alberta Province in Canada. Alberta Province still gives people plenty of job opportunities in the oil field. There is actually a shortage of labor in Alberta, and many companies are in dire need of those who have experience in the field to come and apply for oil jobs. Even so, there are many things to keep in mind before considering working in an oil related job in Canada.
One third of Alberta Province's gross revenue, along with almost 20% of all the jobs in the province come from oil and gas, but there is a lot that is required to land a job in the field. If you don't have any first hand knowledge of oil jobs, you will never know how much skill is needed to work in the oil industry in Canada.
Many of the jobs that are waiting to be filled are those that are tremendously challenging mentally, mechanically and physically. If you have relevant work experience and you are qualified, then you can land one of these jobs easily. But a lot of this work is not for those that are faint of heart. Most of the oil jobs are seasonal and are based out on remote and extremely isolated areas.
Alberta's oil industry requires many skills from its oil workers. Those who have backgrounds in construction will have an easier time getting an oil job, as will those that are experienced derrick hands, drillers, fabrication welders and operators. There are also many opportunities for those who cater to the oil workers, such as janitors, cooks and maintenance personnel. There are plenty of oil jobs available, but employers look for specific experience. Finding entry level work is more difficult because there is more competition for such sought after jobs.
Oil jobs in Alberta Province are extremely labor-intensive and travel is quite mandatory. Most employers prefer workers who are applying for the job knowing that it is long term work that they see as a career, instead of someone who is looking for some quick cash. There are good opportunities for those that manage to get their foot in the door. Many Canadians are grateful for the chance to get a job at a time when most people out there are complaining about the lack of them.
