Wyoming Oil Jobs

One doesn't always think of Wyoming as a place to work for an oil company. With its majestic mountains and scenic horizons, it is hard to believe that Wyoming is a hot spot for those looking for employment in the oil industry.

The oil and gas fields in western Wyoming are in need of many small contractors who can help them. These include trucking companies, archaeology firms, electricians, heavy equipment operators, road construction, pipeline work, casing services and independent truck drivers just to name a few. A company based in Houston is proposing to build a 42-mile pipeline to move condensate out of a natural gas pipeline in Pinedale Anticline. The condensate would be moved to a terminal just south of LaBarge. If the proposal continues as planned, construction should begin in the spring of 2010 and completed by fall of the same year. This means there are an ample amount of jobs to be had on this project.

For those who are new to the oil industry, hands-on job training is available through the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Drilling School and the McMurry Regional Training Center in Casper, Wyoming. Aside from the training, scholarships and job placement are offered. It is recommended that potential employees should first check out the housing situation in the Wyoming area as very few rentals are available. In addition, all local RV parks are also very full. Working with a realtor in the area will help to some degree in at least getting employees on waiting lists for rentals. Some companies, however, are assisting employees in finding housing, but that is something that must be asked by the individual employee in advance when accepting a job in the Wyoming area.

The Wyoming oil industry offers various resources for job hunters including online job banks, newspaper listings and job boards. The best place to start, however, is the oil and gas field related job announcements in area newspapers in the classified section. Online employment agency job boards is another good starting point.

With a little determination and perseverance, Wyoming can be the beginning of a future in one of the world's greatest industries.
