Aluminum Brazing
Perhaps, most of you have heard of the aluminum brazing process but they look at it as something which could be done only by a professional or at least a person who has experience in aluminum brazing. However, the truth is that everyone can do it as long as there is a little knowledge about and desire to do it of course.
However, before talking about the procedure of the process, it would be a good idea to make it clear what the process is actually used for. Probably most of the people are familiar with that but even if one of the readers is not, it is worth it mentioning why the brazing of aluminum is performed. Basically, it is used for fixing two or more aluminum objects. Let’s say you have two aluminum sticks and you want to fasten them together (you want to make one longer stick out of the two). That’s when brazing will be needed! And it’s nothing more than performing several steps and using an alloy of copper and zinc.
By the way, it is very important to remember that brazing could be performed only by this alloy (copper and zinc) and anything else. Once that has been made clear, there are several steps which need to be taken. The first one is clean the aluminum object’s surface by using a sander or sand paper depending on the object’s size. After that, the oxygen equipment needs to be used for performing the process of aluminum brazing itself.
However, it is important to mention that while using the oxygen device, there will be a lot of sparks flying out. So you must take safety measures which involve putting on special glasses and a helmet. Plugging your ears would also be a good idea since you may find the sound during the brazing unbearable. There are people who really cannot stand it.
And in the end, flux will be needed so that the process of aluminum brazing is completed successfully. Of course if you do not feel sure you can do it by yourself, you have always have the brazing done by somebody- a friend who’s got more experience or a professional whom you’ll have to pay. No matter what you choose, your eventual aim should be completed. And let’s just remind that the aim is fastening two aluminum objects together. It sounds so simple but it’s not so simple to do it by yourself, don’t you think so?
