Aluminum docks are pretty popular these days in the world of boating because they look nice. Of course there is no reason the entire dock should be made of aluminum that would be foolish. An aluminum dock made entirely of aluminum would not be good in any type of weather. In cold weather it would be freezing and in worm weather you would get first degree burns just from stepping on it. What’s worst is that in the rain you would slip, and could fall off or injure yourself from stepping on it. No, an aluminum dock made entirely of the metal could not be a good idea. A great idea however would be a wooden dock that is augmented with aluminum so as to make the wood even more stable and weather resistant. These kinds of docks are very popular. Nobody wants a simply wood dock. One other reasons that a metal docks made of aluminum would be useful is if the boat tilts or somehow bangs up against the side of the dock then the wood will be irreparably damaged. But with aluminum in the way you are able to have a little bit of a shock absorber. It makes it less dangerous for you and for your investment, since a dock is an expensive thing to have built. It is also a possibility if you have an already existing old wooden dock to have it outfitted with aluminum, but most people won’t do this for you.

It’s tricky because a lot of dock companies will build you a dock and reinforce it and include that all as a lump price for you, but then they won’t just come out and alter your already existing dock. It can be for legal reasons or it can be for other reasons but the best reason to explain why they wouldn’t do it is probably because the profit would not be significant enough from a job like this in order to warrant them putting in that much effort. But it is possible that in this economy you could find a business that would be willing to do it since they probably aren’t getting that much business these days. One other thing you can do is you can just do it yourself. Search some guides on the internet, there are tons of people out there making their own aluminum docks and you could easily be one of them. Just make sure to take every precaution necessary. You don’t want to mess up and ruin your dock forever.
