Aluminum Flagpoles
There has been a surprising amount of controversy recently regarding aluminum flagpoles because of the fact that they are made of aluminum. Certain people don’t like this fact and want us all to switch to steel flagpoles but this makes little sense in the grand scheme and really just sounds like the silly musings of an old war vet. The common concern is that the flag should not be supported by such a flimsy metal but the people calling it flimsy have so little experience with aluminum and how to actually handle these things. They know nothing and yet they complain about aluminum flagpoles like they are the worst thing in the world. So what you should really do is go out and continue shopping for aluminum flagpoles so you won’t be supporting these crazies. It is important to honor our vets, but their experience with aluminum is probably entirely base on the foil. Everyone knows that you can’t hold up a flag using aluminum foil. It is a week material, but it comes in sheets and it is not meant for that heavy duty work.
The kind of metal that is put into flagpoles is much stronger and the form of aluminum is much more compacted. Not only could it hold ten or twenty flags all on one pole, but it could also hold a few people hanging on either side as long as their weight was distributed evenly. One need not worry about the state of the flag or whether it is being guarded correctly. When you are in the hands of aluminum you can be sure that you are safe. The problem is these people do not know that and have no experience with metal work. Perhaps it would be a good idea to teach them through seminar or a walkthrough of a factory how aluminum flagpoles are actually made. It is of no disrespect to the flag and actually aluminum is really resilient and good at accepting paint applied to the surface so you can really get a good shine to that flagpole if you wanted to paint it a different color than the steely metal color it is commonly associated with for some reason. There are so many reasons that we should keep using aluminum flagpoles and all signs point to the idea of us still using them. There is no point to switching or to getting rid of all the poles we have established just to appease a few people that don’t know what they’re talking about.
