Aluminum Hinges

Now that we are in an era where we are realizing that copper is going away and that we are running all out of copper and now that we are in a position in which we are discovering that brass is one of the better substitutes for copper, things that used to be made out of brass and copper are being made out of cheaper metals such as steel and aluminum. These things can range from aluminum hinges for your doors to aluminum hats to aluminum bathtubs to aluminum cans, you name it and it has been made out of copper and then switched over to aluminum at some point. People used to use copper in the same way as we use aluminum, in fact at one point it was really common to go into a grocery store and be able to choose between copper foil or tin foil or aluminum foil. There are so many different types that they could choose from and the fact that people would use the precious element copper for something as simple as keeping their foods fresh would be mind boggling by today’s standards. Copper has become too important to us recently and we need to get a grip on just how important it is so we can continue making aluminum hinges instead of wasting all of our copper.

Copper is a fast disappearing material because of its great use with electronics. Electronics are the biggest thing in terms of copper and the fact that our aluminum hinges used to be made out of copper is enough to give an engineer a heart attack. Aluminum is a really good material for these kinds of things because it is cheap and because it is easy to find in nature. Copper is not because although it can do the same thing as aluminum, it has a long standing relationship with the aluminum things of today, it can be used for bigger and more important things like the engineering aspect I mentioned earlier. We would not have computers or processors as good as we do without copper components to it because tin and aluminum simply do not carry as much electricity or heat because they are not as ductile as copper. Copper is a thing that is a lot rarer these days. Unfortunately and fortunately we have found that copper is important and because of this, the demand is very high. Though aluminum might not be worth much now, we could find in the future that our aluminum hinges are in the same predicament and worth a lot of money. Never discount the value of metal.
