The term aluminum honeycomb has existed for quite long as it was nearly a century ago when the idea of something like that first appeared. Obviously, the person who came up with that idea deserves to be acknowledged so it is more than sure that his name must be mentioned: Hugo Junkers. He was the first one to come up with the idea that something like the aluminum honeycomb could turn out very useful. However, it must be mentioned that Hugo Junkers could not possibly know that his invention would turn out to get so many usages. What he thought of was its appliance in the manufacturing of planes.

But as you probably know, the honeycombs made of aluminum are used in various fields as most of them have nothing to do with one another. Let’s just mention some more of the inventions which were improved thanks to the honeycomb made of aluminum: helicopters, jet aircrafts and gliders. Of course, those were just inventions in the field of aerospace.

There are many others. You may not believe it but the honeycombs made of aluminum are used in sport also. Vespoli were the first to come up with the idea that the technology will be probably contribute a lot to the development of the so called racing shells. As an immediate success was achieved, many companies stole their idea and decided on using the very same technology so as to improve their racing shells.

Two fields were mentioned so far. And as you have probably realized, they have nothing in common, except for the great significance which the aluminum honeycomb played in their development of course. But you did not think that was all, did you? Another field in which the honeycombs made of aluminum played an important role is the high technology. You are astounded, aren’t you? How could it possibly play a crucial role in something like that? They have nothing to do with each other! Is that what you are saying? Probably yes! But the truth is that the aluminum honeycomb is largely used in the LED technologies and lightning which is so popular nowadays. And not only that: it is also popular amongst the audio manufacturers and particularly amongst the manufacturers of speakers and woofers.

Well that was pretty much everything which you need to know about the honeycombs made of aluminum. Hopefully, you have realized that they are a great invention and Hugo Junkers did not have the slightest idea what a brilliant invention he had come up with.
