Aluminum mailboxes have become pretty popular recently because of the new fads that are out these days. The thing is aluminum mailboxes existed briefly because they were cheap to make through using aluminum. Aluminum has always been cheap because we have had so much of it and because it is not the greatest material in the world. Aluminum is used in all kinds of things such as buckets and mailboxes. Right after the aluminum mailboxes came out first though, the plastic mailboxes became pretty popular and these became wildly demanded by people to the point that aluminum mailboxes were no longer requested by people anymore and they faded into obscurity. Aluminum is a really good material for mailboxes though because it is cheap and because it creates a really nice metal that stands out to people. It is a classic look which was seen as old fashioned to people for a while. Luckily, thanks to the resurgence of the popularity of antiques and other classic things, the aluminum mailbox has suddenly become much more popular than it ever was before. Unlike most trends in metallurgy such as copper, where people used it for everything for a while and then it just stopped, aluminum is going to be in this slot for a very very long time. There have never been dips or peaks in its usage really, it has always remained a constant because it is a metal that we know many things about and that is not really suited for use with electronics other than as a supporter such as in the form of a heat sink.

Aluminum is not a metal that is used for many scientific purposes; it is mostly used for supports like aluminum foil and other more practical purposes because it does not possess the ductility for heat or electronics that other things do. Aluminum is a really good metal for these purposes because it just does not have any of the things it would need in order to compete in the same league as metals such as copper. Thus, we have many materials such as aluminum mailboxes, and one property that aluminum possesses that other metals don’t necessarily possess is the ability to have paint clings to it well. If you have a painted mailbox, the base is probably aluminum, and that is one thing that makes it advantageous over copper for the use of mailboxes. This is not a material that is a low tier thing or anything like that, it simply has other uses.
