First of all, that is the usage in tanning leather which is worth being mentioned because aluminum nitrate could not be replaced by anything in this. Anyway another important usage is the process of extracting uranium. That’s of extreme importance in the nuclear plants since a main goal is a maximum amount of uranium to be extracted so that it can be used as fuel in the plants. In other words, thanks to the aluminum nitrate we can increase the storages of uranium several times which can guarantee that the nuclear plants will have fuel to use for longer than you thought.
